Emotional regulation support · Sydney
When your child's big emotions are running the house
Practical support for Sydney parents navigating meltdowns, explosive reactions and emotional dysregulation, from a specialist SEN teacher with 10+ years of SEN experience.
Emotional dysregulation in neurodivergent children isn’t wilful; it’s neurological. But that doesn’t make it any easier to live with, especially when every transition becomes a flashpoint and every “no” risks a forty-minute meltdown.
Emotional dysregulation has patterns. Understanding what drives it, building routines that reduce flashpoints before they start, and knowing which calm-down strategies suit which nervous system are the things that change how the house feels. The ADHD Parenting Course covers all three in depth.
What we cover
- →Understanding what triggers dysregulation (it's rarely what it looks like)
- →Co-regulation: how your nervous system affects your child's
- →The 20-minute-earlier technique: catching the build-up before the explosion
- →Meltdown vs. tantrum: why the difference matters for your response
- →After-school decompression routines for children who hold it together all day
- →Working with the school on emotional regulation support
This is not a clinical service. Laura is a qualified UK teacher and specialist SEN teacher, not a psychologist or therapist. For children who need clinical support, many families use NeuroKind alongside their OT or psychologist.
